About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to join a leading global organisation at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Based in Oxfordshire, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical imaging technology that improves access to healthcare worldwide.
As a Procurement Engineer, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of globally sourced components, driving long-term sourcing strategies and ensuring a resilient and cost-effective supply chain. This role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to influence strategic sourcing decisions within a collaborative, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical interface between Procurement, R&D, and suppliers, supporting cost analysis throughout the product lifecycle
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives including:
- Cost Value Engineering (CVE)
- Should-cost modelling
- Benchmarking and target costing
- Support product development by providing cost estimates and manufacturing recommendations
- Partner with Procurement teams during supplier negotiations through data-driven insights
- Develop and standardise cost optimisation methodologies and tools
- Contribute to procurement transformation initiatives and digitalisation programmes
- Collaborate with global stakeholders across the UK, Germany, China, and international supplier base
Your Experience & Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in engineering and/or procurement with strong supplier engagement
- Strong technical knowledge of electro-mechanical components and manufacturing processes such as:
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Machining and casting
- Composite structures
- Mechanical assemblies and cable assemblies
- Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis, cost structures, and value engineering
Skills & Attributes
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confident working in cross-functional and international teams
- Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%)
